I had one of my favorite clients scheduled for their outdoor session this Saturday (June 4th). We had planned the session for weeks and they were SO excited for it! It has been awhile since they have gotten family photos done and never with their youngest child who is now almost 2 years old. Always just the kids were photographed for milestones, but after some convincing, they decided to book their family photo session and didn't want to wait until Fall! Mom always felt that she needed to lose some weight before stepping in front of my camera, (even though she really is not overweight!) But, I understood what she was saying. We ALL feel like we are less than perfect and if we let it hold us back from being photographed with the most important people in our lives, OUR FAMILY, then we will never have those memories. I was so glad she finally agreed to book the session. I knew she would be glad she did!
They unfortunately had to put off their session for awhile. They had a out of town death in the family, that was very unexpected. When I got the news tonight, I was just devastated for them. I knew how much they were looking forward to their session, and I knew how much this horrible news hurt them.
We decided to reschedule their session for when they return from out of town, but since they don't know when they will be back, we have not decided on the date. She felt so bad about canceling with so short of notice, that she said she had talked with her husband, and they decided they want to gift the session to someone. She said she knows that there is probably another Mom out there that would love to have the session to get photos of her children, or that may have felt like she did and put off family photos, or that may just not be able to afford it. She said after losing their young family member and realizing how fragile life is, and that they will never have a chance to have photos of that person again, she wanted and needed to do this. She said it was the only thing that made sense to her right now.
I cried. She cried. We were both a blubbering mess on the phone. I was just amazed. She wanted to gift the session to make sure that the time was used and she said she wants to pay for her session again when we reschedule it. There was no arguing with them about it. This is what they want to do. Because they see the importance in getting those photos done, regardless of whatever excuse has been holding you back, because you never know if it will be too late.
There are wonderful people in the world, and to do this at such a hard time for them, is just amazing.
Their session was scheduled for this Saturday, June 4th at 6pm in Royal Oak, Michigan area, at a gorgeous park. The session would need to take place at this date and time and can be used for a portrait session, preferably for a family session, only. (No senior or newborns-sorry!) It is a one hour session.
The session is $150 value. I will be giving a $100 product credit after the session for use towards prints, because I would like pay it forward too, by not only giving you a great portrait experience, but by making sure that you get prints from your session.
If you would like to be considered, all you have to do is go to the post on my Facebook page here and comment "ME" if you would like to be entered or if you would like to nominate someone else, simply comment "Pay It Forward" and tag the person you would like to enter.
I will be drawing tomorrow evening at 7pm.
